Hi, this is my first comment. You seem to be confused a bit but unless we know the parts before and after this chat (I mean, so called "context") we can't even judge what that person really meant. On the other hand, I also think that is not a good idea to open a parts of private chats because even if it is ok for you it might not be ok for that person. Hi, this is Anonymous again.
She said "please not mail me again"? I don't know exactly but I guess she's lost her interest to talk to you...
If you two were talking about your university and if it was just after she said "What? Your university is in the 40th place??" that she suddenly changed her attitude, I think the ranking of someone's university is important for her to find someone to talk to or to make friends with.
I guess what she was talking about when she said "Your university is in the 40th place?? " was probably this.

That's showing that University of Manchester is in the 40th place in "World University Rankings" released by "The Times". But hey, it's great that according to the article above, more than 20 people from your university have won the Nobel Prize...
Anyway, I suggest you to forget about her. I'm not exactly sure that she stopped talking to you because of the ranking of your uni, but if so, then that means she is that kind of person anyway. Haha, you're welcome.
I think we sometimes face unpleasant experiences in our lives, especially when we are in defferent countries or different cultures. But let us always look on the bright side of things. (Actually, I think this person is a very "rare case". I personally have never heard of anyone who cares about "World University rankings" when he/she is looking for someone to talk to on the internet.)

Sorry I forgot to mention about it. I think I can make a comment at least about Japanese language. The word "てか" has the same meaning as "て言うか" and it has almost the same meaning as "anyway" in English. I think it doesn't have a significant meaning so you can kinda ignore it in many cases. like all rankings i wouldn't really take them into consideration too much anyways... i've seen my univ. ranked 400 and 60 in two different reports for world univ. so... take it with a grain of salt. Espicially when the ranking is down by an american company

Well, I enjoyed my course and I thought the lecturers were intelligent and taught well. I'm not so fussed about rankings. ...So is this "Anonymous" the same person as the other "Anonymous" people? I'm guessing so... How will I recognize you in class? Hmmm. I only know one Japanese person in the west of Japan with mind-bogglingly good English, but you say I've never met you before, so you can't be her... No, I'm not on your Mixi.. As I said above, I've never met you before and those posts were my first time to talk to you even on the internet so I'm a perfect stranger to you.
The reason why I made those posts was that I felt like I could be of any help to you, having found you uneasy and confused, being alone in a foreign country, not knowing what your friend (ex-friend? haha..) really meant by that foreign language...
Jonathan, you're putting your blog on the internet and that means your blog is read by the general public, so I'm just one of those.
